Bauer Technologies, a subsidiary of the BAUER Group, has been awarded the piling and foundation works contract for the Ness Energy Project, a planned waste-to-energy plant which is being constructed in Aberdeen (Scotland).

The contract was awarded by ACCIONA, and specifically requires Bauer Technologies to install a 1180mm diameter hard/hard secant wall, which will create the waste reception bunker; as well as rotary bored piles to a depth of 30m. In addition, the boiler house structure includes 600 and 900mm diameter bearing piles up to 26m. All piling works being undertaken will see Bauer using BG45 and BG30 rigs.

Speaking about the project, Michael Jones, Managing Director of Bauer Technologies, said  “Bauer Technologies is proud to be supporting Acciona on this prestigious project, as the waste-to-energy plant when complete will take non-recyclable waste and not only treat it in a clean, sustainable and comprehensive way, but use it to generate electricity for the National Grid and heat for households in the Torry district of Aberdeen.”

Bauer Technologies commenced work on the project in February 2020, with works expected to last five months. ACCIONA is ultimately responsible for the design and turnkey construction, commissioning and the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the plant.
