Crossrail Shaft C501

Moorgate, London

Working with BAM Nuttall/Kier JV, on behalf of main client Crossrail, Bauer Technologies described the work at Crossrail’s Moorgate shaft, the deepest shaft on Crossrail, as a ‘real postage stamp site’. The site, just 40x35m, was tightly constrained by sensitive buildings and infrastructure.

Bauer Technologies installed a 60m deep diaphragm wall shaft, which is a key part of London’s Crossrail Liverpool Street Station, connecting the Moorgate Underground station with Liverpool Street’s main line and Underground Stations.

The project was logistically very challenging, the reinforcement cages for the diaphragm walls had to be brought into the site at night, with road closures in place from midnight to 5am two to three times a week. Bauer Technologies was on site for 18-months, completing the project on schedule and on budget.
